monday loves...
oh dear monday...
so thankful for today. so happy for a day with my sweet little ones. a day to relax and reconnect with no school and no work to get in the way. i cherish our day together. we will pack our suitcases for disney world, eat together, and stay in all day. there is a fresh blanket of snow outside and most of the christmas gifts have been delivered. this christmas season has been a relaxing one. this year i didn't allow the stress of it all take away from embracing the true meaning of this beautiful holiday.
love and hugs
last week my sons class had a presentation for all us parents about family heritage. it was a fun little project for the kids to learn more about their families and where they are from. on the back of the projects they all came up their own lists to describe themselves. i loved the list (especially the last line) it melted my heart and i had to take a picture of it. love love

a few of my favorite things...week 3
on sunday it was cold and clear and my daughter asked if we could make some pens for her teachers and friends. we headed out to joann fabric and she found some fabulous glittery flowers and ribbons. one of my favorite parts of the flower pen is the teal duct tape that holds the creation together.
i had so much fun creating these with my two favorite kids--love love

monday loves...
what a great weekend!! i am thrilled to have my shopping done and find myself relaxed and ready for the holidays, projects and our family vacay at the end of the month. it has been super cold and today i found myself at my favorite little thrift shop searching for a project.
a couple of weeks ago i found this amazing little print after reading one of my favorite blogs, lacylike. lacy did a little entry way makeover that included a fabulous little framed poster that says "keep calm and carry on". i have seen it before but after seeing it in her entry way i had to have one too. you can find lacy's makeover titled free change here and the poster here by sf girl.
i wanted to find a special frame to up cycle, so with a framed flower print, a little mod podge and an anthropologie catalog i began my project. i was so excited i forgot to take a before picture--oops!!!!
so here is an "after" picture!!
i painted the gold frame turquoise and i used mod podge to cover the mat with an anthro catalog!!
love love
thank you for the inspiration lacy, i think you are fabulous!!!

a few of my favorite things...week 2
around the house
here are a few of my fav's
my favorite curtains (in my dining room) from anthropologie
last spring i sold my old red pottery barn curtains at our garage sale. i went curtainless for the entire summer (we have almost 24 hours of daylight in the summer, so theres not much need for window coverings) while i searched for the perfect pair. i kept going back to a few different patterns at anthro and finally settled on these green and blue beauties!!!
my favorite painting!!! my kids go to a school that integrates art, music and science into every part of their curriculum. so, they are always bringing home amazing artwork that i love to display in the house. this one my son did a few months ago!!
my fireplace and mantel are one of my favorite places in the house. you can see it from almost anywhere and it is super cozy when the fire is going and we are all nestled in the living room.
our family photo and our letter "S" from anthro
when we first moved into this house i was a little overwhelmed with this wall. its huge and i wanted something grand. i originally wanted a huge art piece but i am so glad i decided to display photos of the kids on these wonderful pottery barn shelves
my pantry is small, but it works out really well with these wire baskets. originally there were horrible bi-fold doors that the kids squished their fingers in so i ripped them off and put up a curtain rod and curtains for a much softer look.
a little sneak peek at my new anthro bedding!!!! i will show more of our bedrooms later.
my very messy workspace!!!!!!
more places for photos in the dining room
so there are a few of my favorite spots around the house.

monday loves
ten thousand villages
last week i received two beautiful gifts from two wonderful friends.
i had never heard of ten thousand villages before, but i am so impressed with these gifts i want to learn so much more. ten thousand villages is a fair trade organization helping artists from other countries receive a fair wage for their creations.
my friend jessie gave me this little heart, hand carved with love
a red woven garland--i wish you could see the full detail--i cant even imagine how long these took to create.
so beautiful for the holidays--i love it so much!!
